We have, after many queries, decided to open a campsite alongside Fish Eagle Point.

Sandplover Camp will share a common beach with Fish Eagle Point’s on the south bay. However, although the camp is separate from the lodge, some facilities will be shared, such as the water-sports section with dive-store, kayaking, snorkelling, boating and so on.
Basic info…. The main shaded and sandy campsite is on the beach level, meters away from the lapping high tide. Ablutions, communal dining area and kitchen are all in place. A small shop stocked with the basics exists and orders for fresh bread, baked daily, are taken. Fresh fruit and veg from Tanga is available on our hotel resupply days (twice a week). Self drive campsites (for personal vehicles with tent spots and BBQ stand etc) aren’t yet in place, however spots are currently being worked on within the surrounding coastal forest, literally a minute or two walk away from the beach. These sites should be shaded, and each have a cooking station. Caravaners may find the drive here a mission but, once in, its simply ‘spiritual’! (We are 10km off the tar road, the rest gravel, with the final 2.5km on coral rag which, being all weather, is passable in most vehicles but a little bumpy!)
Cooking and meals... Meals are available (booking is necessary) at both the campsite and the lodge. Beers, wine sodas and bottled water as well as necessary snacks, other forgotten items and toiletries are available in the camp shop. A full bar is available at the lodge next door.
Lights and water... Communal areas are lit by solar (as we are off grid at this time). Firewood or briquetts are available for sale. There are not water points at the tent sites but the communal ablutions are serviced with water which is trucked in and, therefore, limited for showers and washing of clothes. Saltwater, however, is rather plentiful hence used in our flush toilets and also used for the washing of kitchenware, cutlery and crockery.
Security… We have guards full time in and around the campsite. Valuables should obviously be looked after, as is normal everywhere.
Activities… All activities currently available at Fish Eagle Point are extended to the campsite. These include a dive shop, kayaking, snorkeling, dhow trips, fishing, cultural trips, etc. See FEP activities pages.
